About Us

My name is Jenny Self BA, ACFBA, MGoDT I am 51 years old and I have been brought up with dogs from the age of 5. I have trained all my own dogs once I reached adulthood, including my past dog Tilly. She was the reason I became a Behavourist.

Tilly had fear aggression towards other dogs. We obtained her when she was 3 and she had lived at the rescue centre for 3 months. We decided to take her and train her and with consistency of training and structured introductions with other dogs she had lots of friends and lived a fun life.

In June 2017 I obtained an 8 week old Maremma Sheepdog called Kato. He is now 4 years old.

I have successfully trained the dogs of work colleagues and friends when they have experienced issues with their dogs. Since starting Unique Canine 10 years ago I have trained a great many dogs to include Bull Mastiffs, Staffordshire Terriers, German Shepherds, Labradors and Spaniels along with many other breeds. I have vast experience of dealing with behaviours such as separation anxiety, noise phobias, fear aggression, dominant aggression, as well as other aggression and anxiety issues, and also run socialisation programs for dogs that have fear aggression to other dogs or people.

I am educated at degree level when I obtained my BA (Hons) Degree in Canine Behaviour & Psychology with the CIDBT and the Middlesex University in the summer of 2016 and I'm an associate member of the Canine & Feline Behaviour Association of Great Britain, as well as being a Master Trainer with The Guild of Dog Trainers.

At times I am assisted by my husband David, during difficult cases and dog socialisation classes when he can.
